Birth

Donald was born on 25th January 1852 at Aruleun, Braidwood, New South Wales, Australia. His parents were James Laing and Isabella McLean ^[1]

Marriage

Donald married Sarah Higgings on October 8th 1872 and the marriage was registered at Eden, New New South Wales, Australia Reg 1872 Reg No 2071^[2]

Death

Donald died on 13 November 1932 in Pambula Hospital aged 82. ^[3]

Research Notes

• According to the Eden Magnet Donald Laing was a well known identity on the south coast. He died in Pambula Hospital on 19th November 1932. He took up mail delivery when he was 21 contracting the Eden to Towamba mail run on a bridle track over the mountain between the Towamba and Nullica Valleys. Later he contracted the Pambula Nethercote mail which he continued til 1931. He completed 61 years of mail delivery service most of it on horseback. ^[4]
