Biography

She was the 3rd daughter born May 11, 1829 in Piscataway, Prince George Co., Md., came to Missouri with her parents than to California with her Aunt, Mrs. Washington Coons, (Sempronia Lanham), in 1849. They traveled to California In covered wagons.

She married Dr. James Howard and lived in Sacramento, CA. producing several children:

1. Mary
2. Gertrude -->d. Panama during return to St Louis
3. Edgar
4. Arthur --> born in St. Louis in August 1871

Dr. Howard sold out his drug Store in California and came back to Missouri. On their wag, their little daughter Gertrude, was taken ill on the ship and died in Panama. Her body was taken back to California and burled in the Howard family lot in Sacramento. They reached St. Louis in 1866 with their small son, Edgar.

Dr. Howard served in the Mexican War In 1847. He died on the RR train going from Salt Lake to Omaha, and was buried by the Oddfellows.

Mrs. Howard is still living in 1922 in St. Louis. She died in 1927.
