John was born in 1865. He was the son of Robert Vickers Large. He passed away in 1916.
He was a rancher and farmer - with 800 acres two mile east and one mile north of Springside. He later acquired a section west of Yorkton which remained in his family until 1986.
John William was elected to the Town of Orkney council in 1915 and in 1921 elected Reeve - a position he held until 1936.
He retired to Yorkton after his wife - Anne Robinson - died in 1935. He owned the building in Yorkton which housed the Toy Ying Cafe.
