The Manning River Times and Advocate for the Northern Coast Districts of New South Wales (Taree, NSW) - Saturday 23 May 1903 - page 6[2]
Obituary. MRS. WM. GILL, Senr. It is again our painful duty to record the demise of an old and highly-esteemed resident of the district, in the person of Mrs. Susannah Gill, of Taree, relict of the late Mr. Wm. Gill. After suffering for some six days from acute bronchitis and various other complications, death resulted early yesterday (Friday) morning — the immediate cause being weakness of the heart. Dr. Patrick had been in constant attendance, and did all that medical skill could suggest, but little hope of the patient's recovery were held out from the first. The deceased lady was a native of Somersetshire, England, and had reached her 66th year. She had been a resident of the river for 28 years, 22 of which were spent on Jones' Island, and 6 in Taree. The late Mrs. Gill had been twice married — her former husband being Mr. Osborne. Four children were the result of their union — their names being: — Mr. Samuel Osborne, Mrs. Culthrop, Mrs. Armstrong, and Mr. W. Osborne, the latter being unmarried. The late Mr. Gill died at Jones' Island six years ago, and left four children, viz. , Mrs. R. Unicomb, of Coopernook; Mrs. A. Thompson, of Cundle; Mr. Geo. Gill; and Mrs. Tisdell, of Taree. The deceased lady, who had resided in Macquarie-street, Taree, for the past six years, was esteemed for her many kindly and Christian qualities, and sympathy with the bereaved family is sincere and widespread. The remains are to be interred in the Dawson cemetery this (Saturday) afternoon — the funeral cortege leaving at 2 o'clock. The Rev. B. Lane will conduct the service at the graveside. |
