Biography

Leavitt, John, Sergeant, married May 28, 1701, Deliverance Robie, probable granddaughter of Henry Robie. Their daughter Deliverance, born May 6, 1719, married Nov 7, 1734, Jeremiah Clough, of Salisbury; she died Oct 31, 1736. Sergt. Leavitt made his will Dec. 23, 1726; inventory, Feb. 24, 1727. [1]

The Will of Deliverance’s father, John Leavitt, dated 23 Dec 1726, is filed at Concord, New Hampshire (Wills, vol. 7, p. 638), and leaves to wife Deliverance the improvement of his estate; to daughter Deliverance, at age of 18 or at marriage, one-half the estate; if she has a male heir her share is to go to him; if not, it is to go to John Levet, son of "cousin" Thomas and grandson of Aretas. The estate, inventoried at £1029, included a halberd and some books.[2]
