Anne La Borgne de Belle Isle was born about 1690 (she was age 3 in the 1693 census). She was the daughter of Alexandre Le Borgne and Marie St-Étienne.
Her mother was already widowed by the time she was 2.
In 1693, at Port Royal, Anne, aged 3, was living with her mother, Marie de St. Estienne, aged 38, widow, and her six siblings: Emanuel [sic] LEBORGNE [sic], aged 17, Marie [sic], aged 15, Alexandre, aged 13, Jeanne [sic], aged 11, Charles, aged 8, and Marie Francoise, aged 5. The family owned 2 guns and was living on 31 arpents of cultivable land with 13 cattle, 15 sheep, and 20 pigs.[1]
She married Jean De Fonds dit Rodrigue, son of Jean De Fonds of Portugal and the late Anne Maure 16 March 1707, at Port Royal. Witnesses were Sieur de Subercase, Governor of the province, Monsieur de Goutin and Monsieur de Falaise.[2][3]
They had at least two and possibly eight children.[4]. "Rodrigue probably arrived in Acadia after 1700. In 1707 he married Anne Le Borgne whose parents, Alexandre Le Borgne * of Belle-Isle and Marie of Saint-Étienne de La Tour, belonged to eminent Acadian families. Rodrigue and his wife had at least eight children.[5]. The couple had eleven children: Joseph, Michel, Jean-François, Jean-Baptiste, Antoine, Pierre, Marie-Anne, Louis, Catherine-Josèphe, François-Luc and Anne-Charlotte.[6] Or even 13 children.[7]
Anne Le Borgne dit Bélisle became a widow in 1733 and with her two sons, Michel and Pierre De Fonds dit Rodrigue, ran the family company, which at the time was one of the most prosperous of Île Royale.
After his death, on a business trip to Quebec City in the autumn of 1733, his wife and two of his sons, Michel and Pierre, administered the family business. In 1738, his widow married Jean Duperié (or Duperier) of Louisbourg. This Duperie had been second in a fishing vessel of Saint-Jean-de-Luz in 1731."[5]
