The Irish name “Michael” is “Micheál” and is pronounced “Meehawl”, but with a soft 'k' sound rather an open 'h'.
Michael Leddy appears on the records for his children, but died before the 1880 U.S. census in which his remaining family appears.
He may be the stone cutter who appears in the 1870 census in Brooklyn, New York with wife Mary and three children: Margaret (11), John (5), and James. [1] This only fits well if Marcella was mistakenly recorded as Margaret, a more common Irish name. John is the right age for the 1880 census, when Michael was deceased, and James was no longer there.
If so, Michael Leddy the stone cutter, born around 1833, died in 1878 in New York City.[2]
