David was was baptised in St Mary's Church, Sompting on 10 January 1802. He was the eldest son of Thomas Lisher and Sarah Hill. The 1841 census records him as living and working at Sompting Abbotts with his wife Mary Gurr whom he married in 1825. However, later on they moved down to Sompting Street (later West Street), in Sompting. When he died of cancer in Sompting on 23 January 1869, his occupation written on his death certificate was noted as Oxman. David was buried in St Mary's Churchyard, Sompting, on 27 January 1869.
