CAPTAIN JOSEPH LOCKE, son of John Locke and Elizabeth Berry, was married to Salome White, daughter of William White, in Greenland [New Hampshire] by Rev. William Allen. Both Salome and Joseph were received into the Greenland church in 1718.[1]

15 May 1728 - Ens. Joseph bought land at Dry Point;
7 Jan 1730 - bought land in Rye;
17 Nov 1722 [1732?] - sold rights in Chester;
1726-1739 - selectman;
1730-1742 - was called Captain and Ensign;
23 Oct 1735 - Capt. Joseph bought land in Portsmouth;
1739 - was moderator and town clerk;
1739 - sold land at Dry Point and Sandy Beach Pond;
12 Dec 1738 - Joseph "gent." sold land to daughter Salomie and Jonathan Goss;
6 Aug 1740 - in "Col. Sherburne's Regiment, 9th Co.; Capt. Joseph Locke had 90 men"
1763 - conveyed 30 acres to son Joseph and Hannah, his wife, to be given after their deaths to their two sons, Richard and Joshua;
15 Feb 1763 - for the amount of 10,000 pounds, Capt. Joseph conveyed to his son Jeremiah "all my land 115 acres at (Locke's) Neck, one half grist Mill, tools, etc.; also Nimshi, a Molater boy until he is 30 years of age."

Both were received into the Greenland Church in 1718.
May 13, 1713, he bought "one-fourth part of the meadow and upland fenced in at Sandy Point at a place called Dry Point."
July 31, 1718, he bought rights in the town commons at New Castle, also in April 1720 and June 1723.
Dec. 19, 1721, he bought land in Chester.
Ensign Joseph bought land at Dry Point May 15, 1728.
Jan. 7, 1730, he bought land in Rye.
Nov. 17, 1722, he sold rights in Chester.
Capt. Joseph bought land in Portsmouth Oct. 23, 1735.
In 1739 he sold land at Dry Point and Sandy Beach Pond.

Nimshi, "colored boy slave of Capt. Joseph Locke," is also mentioned as serving in the Revolutionary Army. [1]
