Biography
Emma Longshaw was born in 1848 at Shipton under Wychwood, Oxfordshire, England. She was the daughter of David Longshaw and his wife Maria, born Maria Harris or Harriss. [1] [2] [3]
In 1851 Emma Longshaw was living at Shipton under Wychwood with her parents, David and Maria, and her younger sister Maria. Her age was given as 2, implying a birth date in 1848 or 1849. Her birthplace was given as Shipton, Oxfordshire. [4]
Solomon Slattar, bachelor, aged 28, a shepherd, of Shipton, son of James Slattar, labourer; and Emma Longshaw, spinster, aged 22, of Shipton, daughter of David Longshaw, labourer; were married at Shipton under Wychwood parish church on 5 September 1870. The witnesses were called William Longshaw and Maria Longshaw. [2]
In the 1881 census Emma Slatter was living in Kiddington, Oxfordshire, England with her husband Solomon and their daughters. [3]
In 1911 Emma Slater was living at Eastleach Turville in Gloucestershire with her husband Solomon. Her age was given as 65, implying a birth date in 1845 or 1846. Her birthplace was given as Shipton under Whichwood, Oxfordshire. It was stated that Solomon and Emma had been married for 40 complete years and had had 2 children together, both of whom were still living. [5] (Her daughter Sarah Monk was living next door.)
