Samuel was born in 1789. He was the son of Christopher Lovell and Abigail Sturgis.[1]
Though the Barnstable records state Samuel died on November 14, 1806 in Guyana,[1] a headstone for "Master Samuel S. Lovell", son of Christopher and Abigail Lovell, which is shared with his mother, exists in Hillside Cemetery, in Osterville, Massachusetts.[2] The stone provides a death date of August 8, 1799, and states he died at "Demarara"; apparently a misspelling of Demerara, a historical region of South America which today is part of the country of Guyana. It is stated he was 10 years of age. A death year of 1799 is more likely than 1806, as he has a half brother named Samuel S. Lovell who was born in 1802.
