Herman Eugene Luttrell was born in 1931. He was the son of Harry Luttrell and Annabell Mason. He passed away in 2013.

Herman Eugene "Gene Luttrell, 82, of Bunker Hill, WV. passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at his residence with his "special angel" Pauline Ruble, his children and his brothers and sisters by his side. He was born August 13, 1931 in Frederick County, VA the son of Harry and Annabelle Mason Luttrell and was one of eighteen children. Mr. Luttrell had been a motor equipment operator for the public works department of Winchester, VA. He was awarded the city's Distinguished Service Award in 1987, to which he said, "I'm not too famous, just a worker. His humor, energy for life and free spirit will be missed by all. Mr. Luttrell was baptized Sunday, September 1, 2013. He attended Shockeysville United Methodist Church and the Bunker Hill Brethren In Christ. Surviving are six children, Patty Thomale, Barbara Cox, Chester Luttrell. Roseann Holtsclaw, Lisa Weir and Kathy Baker; five sisters; seven brothers and seventeen grandchildren. Two children, Bonnie Luttrell and James Luttrell; a granddaughter, Jennifer Luttrell; a great-grandson, Brandon Lepley; two brothers and three sisters are all deceased. A funeral service will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Phelps Funeral Chapel, 311 Hope Drive, Winchester with Pastor Raymond R. Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Shockeysville United Methodist Church Cemetery. Shockeysville, VA. Friends will be received on Friday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the funeral chapel. Casket bearers will be James E. Weir, Jr., David Crim, Timothy Madigan, Jerry Ruble, Steve Woodard. Joedy Holtsclaw. Scott Lewis and Chester Luttrell, Sr. Honorary bearers will be Matthew Woodard, JR Swartz and Dave Holtsclaw.
