Biography

In 1871, John lived with his family in Cornwall, Ontario. ^[1] The family was still in Cornwall in 1881. ^[2]

In 1891, he was a tinsmith and lived with his family in Victoria, British Columbia. ^[3]

His obituary:

John Gordon MacDonald, 77, 408 15th Ave. E., died Wednesday in hospital.

Born in Cornwall, Ont. He came to Calgary in 1906 where he resided until movin to Vancouver ten years ago. He returned to Calgary four and a half years ago to make his home with his sister, Mrs. G. A. Vice, 408 15th Ave. E. He was employed with the J. H. Ashdown Hardware Co., and the Ogden shops. .. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs Vice, Calgary, Mrs. Aida Stannard, Seattle; one brother, Allan E., Vancouver. Service will be held in Jacques’ funeral home Saturday at 1:30 p.m., Rev. C. Andrew Lawson will officiate and burial will be in Burnsland cemetery. ^[4]
