Biography

George was born about 1762. He married Rachel (maiden name unknown) in about 1780 and had at least the following children:

• Named in 1786 petition to NC requesting division of Sullivan County with John and Michael
• Mentioned in Greene Co., TN land records in 1792 and 1796; Sullivan Co. tax list 1797, 1812.

Birth:

• Paid poll tax in 1796 & 1812. He bought land in Greene Co. in 1791 so was probably born between 1762 and 1772.

Marriage:

• Sullivan Co. deeds Vol 11, p. 137 had Sheriff's sale of the interest Amos Malone has in his father, George's, land mentioning land on which "...Widow Malone" now lives adjoining land of John Smith.
• In the 1830 census, Rachel is living near John Smith. Son, John was born in 1780 the speculation is they married before that.

• Vol #2 p.189; 7 Nov 1791 George Malone "farmer" of Greene Co., TN purchased tract of land on both sides of Lick Creek from George Waggner beginning on Wm. Wilson's line.... John Carter's line. Witnesses: Wm. Dawson, John King, Isaac Lanehart, John Richardson. Proved in August Court Session 1792.
• LDS Film #0024661 p.261 "Another (deed) from George Waggoner to George McLane (sic) 7 Nov 1791 for 160 acres of land was duly proven in court by the oath of Israel Lanehart & admitted to record."

• Ruth Malone was married to J Taylor. She is mentioned in the land records of her father, George, in 1830 in Sullivan Co., TN. She had a brother and a sister living in Washington Co. at that time.
• Vol 11, p. 455 John and Jemima (Malone) Leonard sold 100 acres, 19 Sep 1835, to Joseph Malone it being the interest of the heirs of George Malone: Ruth, Wm A, Joseph, George, Amos, Jemima, Solomon, & John named.

Death:

• George Sr. not in the 1830 Sullivan Co., TN Census; land records concerning the estate by the children begin 23 Nov 1831, Volume 11, p 137. Deed of George Jr. Vol 12. p.39 dated 25 Oct 1837 mention George Malone, Sr. dec'd.
