Biography

Joel Mann is found in the 1790 US census for Hebron, Tolland, Connecticut.[1]

(17) JOSEPH 4 MAN (Nathaniel, 3 Richard, 2 Richard, 1 ) was the eldest child of Nathaniel Man, by wife Mary (Root), of Hebron, Conn. He was born, according to the town of Hebron records, April 5, 1713; whether he first saw the light at Hebron, or Lebanon, Conn., is uncertain. His father (Nathaniel) deeded lands, May 29, 1713, calling himself of Lebanon, but soon after resided and owned land at Hebron. Joseph Man married first, Mercy , who died April 5, 1738.

He married second, Hannah Gilbert, Nov. 27, 1740, who died Aug. 15, 1777. He probably died in Hebron, 1798 or '9. A granddaughter says, " he was a farmer and miller in Hebron." He had fourteen children, two by the first wife, and twelve by the second, all of whom were born at Hebron, viz. :

Joel Mann settled in the Town of Milton, New York. He passed away on November 24, 1824 and is buried in Oakwood Cemetery in Milton Center (Town of Milton), New York. [4]
