He and Madeleine Benoit had 12 children, all born in Acadie except the last one. They had 11 children in the household in 1752, at Rivière-de-Miré, Isle Royale. [2]
Jean was buried on 13 May 1758 in Louisbourg, Ile Royale, Acadie. The date of his death was not noted in the register. [3] He was given about 60 years of age.
His wife and four of their children were deported to France in the fall of 1758.
We presume that Madeleine was from this same parish. Given that the censuses of 1707 and 1714 suggest that Jean Benoit was head of the only family of that name in Cobeguit, we conclude that Madeleine was his daughter)
