William Martin was born in Tasmania, Australia


1856 - William was born. [1] [2]He was the son of Edward Martin and Anne Dumas.

He was a Lieutenant Colonel commanding the 12th Australian Infantry. (Launceston Regiment) and the Tasmanian Rangers, Barrister and Solicitor. Educated Launceston and Geelong Grammar Schools. He was a director of the Tasmania woolgrowers Agency co Ltd, Scott and Griffiths Ltd, Tamar Brewery Launceston, married to Kate, dau of the Hon C.J. Weedon, one son, two daughters. recreation golf, Address: Patterson St Launceston. 1879 - Lieutenant in Tasmania Volunteer Rifle Regiment.

1881-83 - Adjunct

1887 - Major commanding

1888 - V.D.

1897 -Brevet Lt Col

1901 - Lieutenant Colonel

1938 -He passed away.
