Biography

Garland Rhodes Martin was born on November 15, 1786, in Albemarle, Virginia, his father, Azariah, was 35 and his mother, Mary, was 29. He married Betsey Ann Richardson on July 22, 1815, in Barren, Kentucky. They had seven children. He died on February 3, 1874, in Collingsworth, Texas, having lived a long life of 87 years, and was buried in Plano, Texas.
