Robert Matthews was born about 1815 in Brancaster he was the son of Norman Matthews and Alice Rose. He was christened on 15 July 1815 in Brancaster, Norfolk[1]
He married Jane Palmer in 1851 in King's Lynn, Norfolk.[2]
Robert was a farmer and he and Jane had seven children together. They lived in West Hall, Gayton all their lives and are found in the 1851, 1861, 1871, 1881 and 1891 English Census' living there.[3]
They were married for about 45 years until Robert passed away on 24 Nov 1896 in Gayton.[4]
