Biography

Elizabeth Mavity was born about 1829 in Indiana;^[1] she was the daughter of Michael Mavity and Sarah Shiveley.^[2] [see entry for Michael Mavity, page 5.]

On 7 Feb 1850 in Orange County, Indiana,^{[2] [3]} Elizabeth Mavity married John Hiestand Martin.

On 26 Aug 1850,^[1] Elizabeth Martin (age 21, born Indiana) was living in Jackson Township, Washington County, Indiana in the household of her husband, John H. Martin (age 25, born Indiana). John and Elizabeth were married within the prior 12 months. John's occupation was a farmer.

In 1860,^[4] Elizabeth Martin (age 31, born Indiana) was living in Paoli Township, Orange County, Indiana in the household of her husband, John H. Martin (age 34, born Indiana), and their Martin children, all born in Indiana (age, sex): i) Marion M. (9, M), ii) James W. (7, M), iii) Emma O.
