Co-Founder of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Motion Picture Studio
Louis B. Mayer was a Canadian-American film producer and co-founder of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studios in 1924. He was its vice president from 1924 to 1951. He was also one of the founders of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) in 1927, which continues to award the Oscars annually.
His obituary was published in The Modesto See on 30 Oct 1957, page 14. Actor Spencer Tracy delivered the eulogy.
