MRS. M. CARY
On Thursday night Mrs. Mavery Cary, wife of Mr. Edward Cary, passed away at the residence of her parents Mr. and Mrs. William McCarron sen. of Willaroo Street, after an illness lasting nearly three years.
She was born at Peak Hill on November 8, 1920. and had lived in Peak Hill all her life excepting for the 2 1/2 years she served in the Army. She was in the AWAS as a signalwoman at Bonegilla and she was afterwards on headquarters signals in Melbourne. She had a very fine record in the AWAS and most Peak Hill residents will remember her for her very fine bearing and appearance in uniform and her keen devotion to duty.
She was married in January 1948, to Mr. Edward (Ted) Cary. There are two small daughters. Dawn and Jennifer, aged 4 1/2 and 2 1/2 years.
She is also mourned by her parents and two sister,. Dot (Mrs. W. Stain) and Eva, of Peak Hill, and four brothers. William, Thomas, John (all of Peak Hill) and Kevin (Condobolln).
The service was held in the Roman Catholic Church and the cortege from the church included ex-servicewomen of Peak Hill and a large number of ex-servicemen of the district.
Her four brothers acted as pall bearers.
The Last Post was sounded at the graveside.
Sympathy is extended to those bereaved by her untimely passing.
