Biography

Mary (McCormick) McGirr was born about 1821 in Eden Island Townland, Donagh Parish, County Monaghan, Ireland, daughter of Alexander McCormick (1791 - 1863) and Margaret (Martin) McCormick (1792 - 1832). Her birth date is calculated from the Canadian census records. She is listed as living in Eden Island in an 1821 church "census" so it is highly likely that she was born there. ^[1]

Mary married William McGirr (~1811 - 1873) on 7 Jan 1841 in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Bytown (present-day Ottawa), Carleton County, Canada West. ^{[2] [3]} Their children were:
