Dear Sir:
I hate to pen you the sad intelligence of your father's death. The mule ran away with him a few minutes ago down the hil at Mr. Carr's and he jumped and his head was crushed, and died instantly. Haven't time to write more as it is train time. It is now 20 minutes till and the news has just reached me.
