Alfred McGrice was born on 3 September 1874 in Katnook, South Australia, the son of Mrs Margaret (Graham) McGrice and Alexander (McGreece) McGrice.^[1]

He married Alice Cook on 20 March 1912 in Victoria.^[2] Their daughter was:

• Alice Freyda McGrice (1912–2006)^[3]

Alfred died on 5 July 1960 in Kaniva, Victoria, aged 85 years.^[4]
