Biography

Isabella Mary "Belle" McKeehan was born between 1843 and 1845 in Jordan Township, Clearfield County, Pa. She was the daughter of David McKeehan (1805-1870) and Mary Ann McCoy (1812-1885).

In 1850, she was 6 years old, and lived with her father David, age 45, and her mother, age, 38, in Jordan Township. Her father was a merchant. She had the following siblings: Margaret, age 15; James, age 12; Samuel, age 2, and John, age 10 months.[1]

In 1860, Isabella, was 16 years old. She lived with her father, David, age 54, and her mother, Mary Ann, age 45, in Jordan Township. Their post office was Ansonville. Her father was a farmer with a farm valued at $2400 and personal property worth $2195. Her siblings were: James, age 21, who worked as a farm hand; Margaret, age 22; Samuel, age 9; and John, age 7. Samuel and John attended school.[2]

In 1870, Isabella, age 25, lived with her husband, Michael, age 31, in Jordan Township. Michael was a farmer, and their farm was valued at $1500, and they had $800 of personal property. She was keeping house. Their post office was Ansonville. They had three children: Mary, age 5; John, age 4; and Ordella, age 2. Everyone in the household was born in Pennsyvlania.[3]

In 1880, Isabella, age 36, was living with her husband, Michael, age 44, in Jordan Township. Michael was a farmer and Isabell was keeping house. They had seven children: Molly, age 15 (who is likely "Mary" in the 1870 census); John, age 13, and Orrie, age 12, are laborers; Clara, age 10; Franklin, age 8; David, age 2; and Augustin, age 3 months. Michael's nephew, Edmond Gilson, age 24, lived with them. He is a laborer.[4]

Isabell, age 38-39; died on 7 Jul 1882 in Berwinsdale, Jordan Township, Clearfield County. She was buried in Fruit Hill Cemetery in Ansonville.[5]
