Was Abigail McKnitt a daughter of John McKnitt and Dorothy Elizabeth Wallace? (see note by Peggy Bass). Some sources say her mother was Jane Alexander, born 1665 in Ireland.

Abigail was NOT named as 1 of his 4 children (Daniel, John, Mary, and Hannah) in the 14 April 1733 will (now available on ancestry.com) of John McKnitt Jr (m. Dorothy Wallace), so WHO WERE ABIGAIL'S PARENTS? Some say her parents were John McKnitt Sr and Jane Wallace, but John and Jane had only 3 children (Margaret, William, and Jean), and Jane Wallace [McKnitt] died in 1698 (Find A Grave Memorial# 52845670), which is BEFORE Abigail was born in 1708
