Biography

William McLennan, b. 20 Sept 1807, Ussie, Fodderty, Ross-shire, Scotland, son of John McLennan. ^[1] His mother was Elizabeth Bethune (also seen as Elizabeth Beaton). ^[2]

William McLennan had a child with Isabella McLEAN, the out of wedlock birth registered in Fodderty Parish Records:

1. Roderick McLennan b. 15 Oct 1834, in 'Tolly'. ^[3]

It appears the couple never wed; regardless, Isabella McLean disappears from records after their son's birth. Subsequently, in 1841, William McKlenan [sic], age 30 (b. est c1811), and Rodrik McKlenan [sic], age 6 (b est 1835), are found living in a house in Tollie, Fodderty in c1841; Other residents include two women surnamed MacLeod, perhaps related to William's future wife. ^[4]

While not censused in the household mentioned above, Isabella MacLEOD became William's lifelong spouse in c1842.

Marriage: William McLennan married Isabella MacLEOD on January 31, 1842 in Fodderty, both residing in 'Glack of Tollie'. ^[5][6] Together they had 8 children:
