Biography
Some official documents only list first name of Eliza, do not list Emma. Mother Johanna New's birthdate of 1759, if correct, would mean she was 59 years old when Eliza was born. It could be that Eliza's father had her by a different woman. Andrew McElroy married Phebe Meadows (died 1870) on 6/5/1817 in Oglethorpe, Georgia, and she is more likely the mother of Eliza.
