Biography

Annette McRaven Saxton was born in 1909 in Greenville, Washington County, Mississippi to parents John Wilson McRaven Jr. and Lorena Stubblefield.^[1]

At age 10 she was living with her family on Madison Street in Yazoo, Mississippi. She attended school. Her oldest brother William was married and living in the household. Sisters Margaret and Lucile were single and living at home. Her aunt Mary resided there, as did a lodger by the name of Margaret C. Battaite, age 66, widowed.^[2]

Annette married William Herman Saxton on 22 April 1933 at the Pepper home on Broadway street. Her brother, Jack Pepper, and his wife announced their engagement as their parents had passed away.^[3]

Annette and Herman Saxton made their home in Yazoo, Mississippi and were living there in 1935 according to census records.^[4] By 1940 Annette and Herman were living in Batesville, Panola County, Mississippi, in a rented home with a value of 30 dollars per month. Herman had graduated from Mississippi State college. He was an electrical engineer for the RRH Project. He had worked 60 hours the week prior to the census. In 1939, he had worked 52 weeks. His income was 1,900 dollars and he also had income from other sources. Their first child, daughter Margaret Ellen, was nine months old when the 1940 census was taken.^[4] Two more daughters were born, all four years apart.^[5]

April 29, 1962 - Hosted the wedding of Annette's sister

Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Saxton hosted the wedding and reception of Annette's sister, Margaret McRaven, at their home in Batesville, Mississippi. Margaret married Porter Warren when she was 64 years old. ^[6]Herman and Annette's daughter, Olivia, was the pianist, and her daughter Anne was the coordinator during the ceremony. Their oldest daughter, Margaret Ellen Haltom, was matron of honor. Margaret Haltom's husband, Bob, and their son, Bill, of Hattiesburg, also attended.

December 7, 1969 - Announced engagement of daughter

Herman and Annette Saxton announced the engagement of their youngest daughter, Olivia, on 7 December 1969.^[7]

July 2, 2000 - Annette passed away in Batesville, Mississippi.^[8]
