Biography

Micajah Meador was born in Virginia between 1800 and 1810. ^[1]

He married Nancy Cooper on 30 December 1837 in Franklin County, Virginia. ^[2]

Micajah and his wife Nancy are found in the home of Sarah Cooper at the time the 1850 census was taken in Franklin County, Virginia. ^[3]

When the 1860 census was taken , Micajah and his family are located in the Northeastern Division of Franklin County. Both Micajah and Nancy are now listed as age 60. ^[4]

Research Notes

Micajah's census entries show his birth as somewhere between 1800 and 1810. He married Nancy Cooper in 1837, as shown by marriage records and is confirmed by a Chancery court case for the heirs of Eiles or Oiles Cooper. Micajah had no middle name in any of these records.

Micajah's parents are unproven. Many researchers believe him to have been the illegitimate son of David Meador. As yet nobody has been able to either prove or disprove this. Micajah kept a Bible record that was in the possession of a descendant (Mary Divers) in 1989. Unfortunately Micajah did not record the names of his parents there.
