Alexander Meisner was born on 31 Dec 1879 in Grimm, Volga, Russia. He was the son of Jacob Meisner and Eva Zulauf.
He married Marie Strecker in Grimm and they had at least two recorded children, Frederick and Lydia Meisner. Marie Meisner died in 1907 in Grimm.
Alexander remarried to Pauline Schaffer in July of 1908, prior to travel to Scotland in preparation for immigration to America.
The family immigrated to America via S.S. Columbia arriving at Ellis Island on 19 Oct 1908 where they were detained for five days due to requirement of doctor certification. They sailed with Alexander's parents Christian and Eva Katherina Meisner. The two families were bound for Fort Collins, Colorado to be with Jacob and Eva's other son Christian Jacob Meisner, Jr.
The Meisner families were farm laborers answering the call for Colorado German-Russian sugar beet field laborers. Meisner families can be found in census records together. In 1910, they lived in "Buckingham Place" aka "The Jungles" in Fort Collins, platted in 1902 by the Fort Collins Colorado Sugar Company, which were small dwellings next to the sugar plant on land owned by Charles Buckingham.[1][2] This location within Fort Collins was known for German-Russian and Mexican immigrant laborers who were the heart of the sugar-beet factory industry that exploded during that time period.
In October 1919, Alex and his family moved to Gering, Nebraska. He worked in the sugar factory and farmed in Gering, Nebraska. Alex and Pauline had at least seven recorded children together. Pauline died in 1952.
In July 1953, Alex remarried to Elizabeth Kious Ahlbrandt.[3]
Alex Meisner passed away at age 84 on 9 Jun 1964 in Gering, Nebraska.
