Lucien Antoine Mendoza was born on March 3, 1839 in Charenton, St. Mary, Louisiana, United States, son of Antoine Joseph Mendoza (1817– ) and Marie Silvanie Irma Senetiere (1818–<1900).[1]
Lucien married Martha Rosalie Vaughn around 1864.[2]Their children were:
In the 1860 census Lucien (age 22) lived with his father, Antoine (reported age 40, actual age 43), real estate $800, personal property $1000, his mother, Mrs. A. (age reported 34, actual age 42), his sisters Oliva (age 14), Emma (age 12), Mathilda (age 8), Euphemie (age 6), his brother, Euphemon (age 2) in Western District, St Mary, Louisiana, United States. His married sister Amelia (age 18), her husband Denis Carline (age 22), and their son J. (age 1 month), as well as his grandfather (Antoine's father) Antoine Sr. (age 70) and grandmother Mrs. A. Sr. (age 72) lived with them.[4]
In the 1870 census, Lucien (age 30) swamper, his wife Martha (age 25) and their son Euphemon (age 5) lived in the multi-generational household with his father Antoine (age 58), head of household, also a swamper, his mother Sylvanne (age 53), his sisters, Euphemie (age 15), and Euranie (age 9), his brother, Euphemon (age 12), in Police Jury Ward 1, St. Martin, Louisiana, United States.[5]
In the 1880 census, Lucien (age 41), Swamper, married head of household, lived with his wife, Rosalie (age 36) and their sons Euphemon (age 15), Edmond (age 7) in St. Martin, Louisiana, United States.[6]
In the 1900 census, Lucein (age 60), married head of household, day laborer, lived with his wife of 35 years, Martha (age 57), their son, Edmond (age 28) (married 8 years), grandsons John (age 15), Richard (age 12), and granddaughter Liza (age 17) in Ward 2, St. Martin, Louisiana, United States.[7]
In the 1910 census Lucien (age 77), widowed head of household, Sheriff, lived with his son Edmond (age 39) in Police Jury Ward 2, St Martin, Louisiana, United States. Ellen Allen (age 30), widow, servant, and Martha Mendoza (age 2) lived in the same household[8]
Lucian, son of Antoine Mendoza and Silvine Sintria, died (age 85y) on 14 March 1915 in Bayou Chene, St. Martin, Louisiana.[9]
