Biography

In 1871, 1 year old Minnie is living in a cottage in the timber yard, Meadow Street, Bristol with her parents^[1].

In 1881, 12 year old Minnie is living in the St. Pauls area of Bristol with her parents^[2].

In 1891, 18 year old unmarried Minnie is living in York House, Upper York Street Bristol with her parents^[3].

In 1901, 23 year old unmarried Minnie is living in 41 Pier Street, Plymouth with her family^[4]

Minnie Merrick married Percival Molesworth Rodliff in the third quarter of 1902 in Plymouth^[5]. Sadly, Percival died in 1908.

In 1911, "27" year old widow Minnie Rodleff is living with her widowed father Robert Merrick in 11 Carlisle Street, Plymouth^[6].

Minnie married for a second time in the third quarter of 1913 to a Charles G K Rooks with the marriage registered in Plymouth^[7]

The death of Minnie Rooks at the age of "46" was recorded in Plymouth in the second quarter of 1925^[8]

Research Notes

There is a Charles G K Rooks in the 1901 census in Plymouth and he is married to Selina Rooks. Charles Kingston Rooks appears in 1911, also married to Selina. Selina Rooks did not die until 1916 according to FreeBMD so that Charles G K is probably not the one that married Minnie. However, Charles G K and Selina have a son Charles that appears to have a full name of Charles George Kingcombe Rooks^[9]. Although the 1911 census names Charles senior as Charles Kingston, it appears that Charles senior is also Charles George Kingcombe according to his marriage record^[10]

FreeBMD has only two death records for Minnie Rooks after 1913, so I have assumed that the death recorded in Plymouth is this Minnie (since her husband Charles did not die first). Minnie's age has been wildly inconsistent throughout the census records so it is no surprise that it is incorrect in her death record.
