Biography

Eliza was born about 1832. She is the daughter of James Milgate and Mary Upton. ^[1]

Eliza was born at Beckley, East Sussex, England in 1832.in 1832. Her parents were James Milgate and Mary Ann Upton.^[2]

She married Thomas Adams at Eldon in 1847.^[3][4] The District shown on their record of marriage in the New south Wales BDM register was "MA". This was an Early New South Wales church code for the Church of England parishes of Australian Agricultural Company; Dungog; Eldon; Stroud and Uffington.^[5]

"Church Marriage Register NSW Pre-1856 Church of England Marriage solemnized in the Parish of Eldon in the County of Gloucester in the year 1847. Thomas Adams, Bachelor of Eldon Parish & Eliza Milgate, Spinster of Eldon Parish married in this church by Banns with consent of Friends on 24 Dec 1847, by me Charles Spencer, M.A.. Church Folio 73. Page 18. Secondary page number 151 in top left hand corner. Witnesses: William Robards, Raymond Terrace & Harriot Robards of Raymond Terrace. She passed away at Wollongong in 1892.^[7]
