Biography

Alta was born in 1925. She was the daughter of Chandler Miller and Lilly May Buell.

In 1930, the family was living in Fort Lewis, Washington with her father and mother, and her siblings Harold (13). Margaret Marie (12), and Leslie (8) [1].

In 1940, she was living in Washington County, Oregon, near Laurelwood Academy with her father and mother[2]. Her Uncle Frank also lived in Washington Oregon with his son Edgar at this point in time.

At some point around 1943, she married Chester C Willde of Indiana and moved with him to northern California where he was in the armed forces [3]

On 20 May 1946 she had her son Glenn Allen Willde in Alameda, California [4].

In 1950, she was living in Vallejo with her husband Chester and her son Glenn.

On 27 November 1951 she left from the Port of San Fransisco on the USNS General Daniel I. Sultan with her son Glenn arriving in the port of Honolulu on 2 December 1951[5].

On 2 June 1955 she departed from Yokohama, Japan aboard the USNS General Daniel I. Sultan bound for San Fransisco, with her son Glenn A Willde. They arrived on 17 June 1955[6].

She moved to Calistoga in 1967 and worked as a medical assistant in Napa county.

In 1970, she married Harry A Welsh in Tulare, California [7]. On 7 July 1982, she divorced Harry in Yuba, California [8]

She then married Finley R Christian in 1984 in Napa, California, they stayed married for the rest of their lives [9].

She passed away in 2015. She was survived by her son Glenn Willde who lived in Clearlake. She is buried in Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, California next to her husband Finley. Their epitaph reads "Smile God Loves You"[10]
