Biography

Telesphore Joseph Millier was born in Connecticut on May 8, 1897. His birth record has not been found, but his World War I Draft Registration lists his birth date and the State is given in various census records. He was the third of nine children and the second known son of Antoine Rodrigue Migué and Marie Labossiere.

1900 US Census Connecticut Ward 3-4 ED 523 Sheet 22B Lines 82-89: Rodrigue Millier, 54 emigrated in 1876, works as a day labourer; wife, Marie Millier, 49, (nee Labossiere); six Millier children: Telesphore, 21; Louis, 19; Clarinda, 17; Clara, 15; Eugene, 13; Rodrigue, 8. [1]Census date: June 19, 1900. Mother has had 9 children and 2 have died. Marie Labossiere and Roderick Millier divorced before the 1910 US census.

1910 US Census Connecticut Windham Putname Ward 3 ED 583 Sheet 3B Lines 78-83: Mrs. Cleophaus Miller (Marie Labossiere), 58 divorced; five Millier children: Telephaus, 30; Lewis, 28; Clara, 25; Eugene, 23; Roderick, 17. [2]Census Date: April 16, 1910. Mother again reported having 9 children and 2 have died.

Telesphore Millier (Miller) married Edith F. Johnson at Putnam, CT on May 20, 1916. She is a daughter of Edwin E. Johnson and Ida Mary Woodward. Based on census records, they are known to have had two sons and a daughter.

In 1917 Telesphore Millier registered for the military draft for World War I. [3]

1930 US Census Connecticut Windham Putnam Ward 3 ED 8-17 Sheet 10B Lines 75-79: Telesphore Miller, 50; Edith Miller (Johnson), 40; three Miller children: Robert J., 9; Norman F., 5; Dorothy M., 3. [5] Census Date: April 10, 1930.

1940 US Census Connecticut Windham Putnam Ward 2 ED 8-26 Sheet 3B Lines 62-66: Telesphore Miller, 60; Edith Miller (Johnson), 50; three Miller children: Robert, 19; Norman, 15; Dorothy, 13. [6] Census Date: April 6, 1940.

In 1942, Telesphore Miller registered for the military draft for World War II. [7] This record further confirms his birth date.

1950 US Census Connecticut Windham Putnam ED 8-36 Sheet 9 Lines 25-27: Telesphore Miller, 70; Edith Miller (Johnson), 60; son, Norman F., Miller, 25. [8] Census Date: April 5, 1950.

Telesphore Miller passed away at Pomfret, CT on Jan. 24, 1951. [9] He was buried in Saint Mary Cemetery at Putnam. [10] He was 71 years old.
