Biography
James Jnr was the son of Elizabeth Sugrue and James Moffat. He was named James Buller Moffat in memory of Elizabeth's older sister Margaret who died in a hotel fire at Buller on the West Coast.
At age 19, 31 March 1924, James Buller married Angelina Mary , Born 14 October 1904 in Invercargill, daughter of Fisherman, Angelo Pasco.
They settled in Invercargill and had three children during the marriage, Kathleen Angela Moffat, Born 18 March 1924, Died 15 March 2005 in Havelock North NZ, John Bernard, Born 18 August 1925, Died 18 June 2014 in Hastings, NZ, Hope Dorothy Born 31 October 1927, Died 31 Oct 1927.
Around 1927 James Buller disappeared, believed to have gone to Australia. Nothing further was heard from him.
Angelina Mary remained in Invercargill till around 1938 living firstly at her brother Angelo's home on Liddel Street and later moved to Teviot Street.
She remarried in 1940 to William James Dawson, Born 23 December 1903, Died 19 November 1968 in Rotorua, NZ.
James's brother Andrew is reported to have been 'lost at war' - no New Zealand records yet found to support this.
James is known to have moved to Australia, date unknown and possibly married. No further information at this time.
