Frank Osborne Moorhouse OAM was born on 10th October 1904 in Wanganui, New Zealand. He was the firstborn child of Frederick Moorhouse and Ethel Osborne. [1] He had an older brother, Frederick, from his father's previous marriage. A sister, Sylvia, was born in 1906 and a brother, Leslie, in 1908. Frank's father passed away in 1909. His mother remained a widow, passing away in New Zealand in 1943.
He migrated to New South Wales, Australia before 1928. Frederick had earlier made the move across the Tasman Sea.
Frank married Purthanry Cutts on 14th January 1928 in Sydney, New South Wales. [2] The couple made their home in Nowra, on New South Wales' South Coast, where they had three sons, Arthur, Owen and Frank. [3]
He invented farming hardware and, along with his wife, laid out a manufacturing plant in Nowra to make apparatus for the dairy industry. [3] Frank was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the Queen's Birthday Honours 1988 for 'service to the community'. [4] Purthanry received the OAM two years later.
Aged 89 years, he passed away on 11th April 1994 in Nowra. [5] He was survived by his wife, who passed two years later.
