Biography

The youngest of six children, Rose Lawton Morrison was born on October 25, 1908 in Waycross, Georgia. She was the daughter of Thomas Morrison and Georgia "Ellie" Alexandra Douglas^[1].

In 1934, Rose Lawton Morrison traveled to London from her home town of Waycross, Georgia with her Aunt Rose to be presented to Queen Mary (King George V's 25-year reign would end in 1936). There, she met her soon-to-be husband, Harry Bingham, who worked in the consulate in London, England. Within two months they were married; over the years, they had eleven children, thirty-three grandchildren and a long marriage.^[1]

After Harry retired from the diplomatic service, Rose, Harry and their growing family settled at the Mumford House (eventually link to John Mumford, who built the house in the 1700's. Bingham-1251) in Harry's ancestral town of Salem, Connecticut where Rose and Harry lived for the remainder of their lives.^[1] Rose Morrison Bingham died at home and was buried at the Woodbridge Cemetery in Salem, Connecticut. ^[2]
