Biography

James Morrow, Jr. was born in Pendleton District, South Carolina around 1774.[1][2]

He was probably the James Morrow who served in Rowe's Regiment, South Carolina Militia, during the War of 1812.[3]

He was still in Pendleton District, South Carolina, around 1806 or later, when his friend John Russell named him as executor of his estate.[4]

By 1825, he had purchased land in Alabama.[5]

James Morrow was enumerated at Randolph County, Alabama for the December 2, United States Census, 1850. He was noted as born 1774 in South Carolina and a farmer as seen in this image of the original census. Also included in the household are female Catharine Morrow, male Benj Morrow and female Emily Morrow.[6]

James Morrow, Jr. is buried at Mount Prospect Baptist Church in Wedowee, Randolph County, Alabama.[7]

I show an Agnes Mahoon as an additional spouse and they had a child named William Lionel Morrow in 1793. My cousin has this information and I have no additional citation or document to confirm this. According to my cousin's research this is his lineage: Father/Mother: James Morrow, Jr/Agnes Mahoon > William Lionel Morrow/Rachel Drake > William Lionel Morrow, Jr/Elizabeth Forsythe > Thomas Wilson Morrow/Emmoline Peck > Raymond Anson Morrow/Etoile Jared > Jared Kennard Morrow/Mary Louise Dowell > Tom Morrow I am interested in confirming if James really had three wives and Agnes may have been the first. Thanks, Norma J Dowell

Ms. Dowell is incorrect saying she shows Agnes Mahoon as a wife for this James Morrow. She is also incorrect regarding the parentage of William Lionel Morrow. Agnes did, however, marry a James Riley Morrow who was born abt. 1767 in Ireland & they had a son named William Lionel. William was born about 1793 in Kentucky & he did marry Rachel Drake. He & Rachel are listed in the 1850 Census of Brown Co, Ohio.

Thank you for considering correcting these particular people. Margaret

Following up on the below, DNA results are described here (with writeup, back when I had time for things) and here (in more abbreviated form). Ephraim is Group 3. This James may be the father (not related to the James Morrow m. Elizabeth Frame, Group 8). This family is also not related to Samuel Morrow d. 1796, connected as the grandfather (who is Group 1).
I wonder who is unrelated and where is the mistake. Where is the Morrow project displayed?

Descendants of James m. Elizabeth Frame (listed as father here) and of Ephraim S. (listed here as son) have both taken YDNA tests for the Morrow project. They are unrelated.
