Rowland was baptized at All Hallows, Honey Lance, City of London on November 5, 1558; the baptismal record reads, "Rowland Mosly ye son of Nicholas Mosly was christened the 5th day of November ... 1558". (Note that neither this baptism nor those of Rowland's three elder sisters were identified by Axon in "Mosley Memoranda".)
Rowland is the first child of Nicholas MOSLEY and Margery WHITBROKE Mosley to be identified in "Mosley Memoranda" (p. 8), where Rowland is said to have been born "circa 1560". However, Manchester Court Leet records for 1613 clearly indicate that Rowland was 54 years old in 1613.
On December 16, 1583, Rowland married Ann HAUGHTON or HOUGHTON at St. Pancras church, Soper Lane, City of London; the marriage record reads, "Rowland Mosley and Ann Houghton were maried the xvith of December 1583".
This record of Rowland's marriage increases the likelihood of the accuracy of the attribution of the marriage of Doryte MOSLEY to Leonard WHITE at the same church the previous year.
At some time between 1598 and 1616, Rowland actually purchased the Withington estates (presumably including the property at Hough End) from the Longford family.
Rowland was a justice of the peace and High Sheriff of Lancashire in 1615 until his death (see "Mosley Memoranda", p. 9).
On December 15, 1613, some 7 months after the death of his first wife, Rowland married Anne SUTTON at the Collegiate Church of St Mary, St Denys and St George, Manchester, Lancashire, England; under the heading "Weddinges in December 1613" this marriage record reads "15. Rowlande Mosley esquire and Mrs Anne Sutton" (see also "Booker", p. 146; "Mosley Memoranda", p. 10).
Rowland died (at Hough End, Withington, Lancashire) on February 23, 1616 (Julian calendar) (see "Booker", p. 146; "Mosley Memoranda", p. 9).
He was buried at St. James' Chapel, Didsbury, Lancashire, England on March 11, 1616/7 "Mr Rowland Mosley Esq ... 11 day" (see also "Booker", p. 72; "Mosley Memoranda", p. 9).
