Biography

An unsourced Findagrave entry records that Henry was born on 28 Dec 1777 in Pennsylvania, the grandson of German immigrants who arrived in Pennsylvania in 1742. He is reported to have arrived in Tennessee from Virginia with the Trobaugh family in 1802, and to have served with the Tennessee militia in the War of 1812. He died on 14 Aug 1843 in Greene County, TN, and is buried in the Trobaugh-Myers Cemetery in Greenville, Greene, TN.^[1]

Notes

A history of the Trobaugh family records that of the two brothers who had settled in Rockingham, VA, one (William) lived and died in the area, but the other (Nicholas) moved to Greene Co., TN.^[2]

It is likely that Henry's grandfather is connected to the family of Nicholas Meyer (c.1715-1787, whose arrival date has been reported variously as 1737, 1742 and 1753, and who may have travelled with other relatives. This would be consistent with y-DNA matches reported at FTDNA.^[3]
