Biography

Elvira H Nease was born about 1804 in Effingham County.^[1] She was the daughter of Gottlieb Israel and Anna Neidlinger Nease.^[2] Thomas Nesler and Elvira Niese received a marriage license on 20 October 1823.^[3] It is likely that Thomas died before the 1840 census, where Elvira is shown living with 4 children in Savannah.^[4] In 1850, Elvira is still the head of household in Savannah with several young people (including David George who is possibly David Nesler).^[5] By 1860, Elvira is living in the household of her daughter, Sarah (now Dasher) and working as a nurse.^[1] She has $1000 (a huge sum of money).^[1] Again, in 1870, Elvira is living in the same household with her daughter Sarah Dasher in Savannah.^[6] Elvira, widowed, and her daughter, Sarah, also widowed, are living in the household of W B and Anne Mell, grandchildren of Elvira.^[7]

Elvira may had died on November 20, 1888 and may be buried in Laurel Grove North Cemetery, Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia ^[8]

Gnann has marriage date of October 20, 1823.^[2]

She married Thomas Nestler on December 24, 1823 in Effingham County according to the indexing on the Georgia Marriage Record, however the image does not show this date.^[3]
