Biography

Joshua Noland is believed to have been born about 1759 in either Maryland or Frederick County, Virginia. In 1772, Berkeley County, Virginia (later part of West Virginia), was created from Frederick. He was the son of William Noland and Joanna Unknown. He is named as a son in his father's 1804 Berkeley, Virginia, will.[1]

He married Sarah Clarinda Williams 2 Feb 1779 in Rowan, North Carolina. [2]

According to 'Abstract of Early Kentucky Wills and Inventories', Joshua Noland made his will 27 Aug 1798, proved Dec 1798, in Madison County, Kentucky.[3] Executors of the will were Henry Noland, Joseph 'Shimor' (which might be Joseph Skinner, a family member). Witnesses to the will were William 'Toland', Samuel Hopper.

He died before Dec 1798 in Madison County, Kentucky.[4]

In 1800, Joshua's widow, Sarah, is listed as a resident of Madison County along with some of his siblings including: William, Thomas, Henry NOLAND and Aquilla (Susanna) WHITE.[5]
