Hendrick Oblienis, b. 1672, m. in 1692 Jannetie, dr. of John Tibout, and was the only son of Joost who left descendants. He bore his part in town affairs, being constable in 1705, etc. His fa. gave him his allotment of 1691, being No. 19, containing 22 3/4 morgen, "upon the south end of the Long Hill," or just below Fort Washington. Here he had built and was living when his fa. d. In 1712 he added the larger tract adjoining, as before stated (see App. J.), and which increased his farm to 130 a., salt meadows excluded. In 1709 he was a petitioner, with others, for 1500 a. of land in the Highlands. At his d. in 1745, his fine property in Harlem passed to his son Johannes. He had also a son Peter; and drs., of whom Mary m., in 1717, Michael Tourneur, and Jacomina, in 1720, Jacobus Tourneur, brs., with whom they went to Haverstraw; Josyntie m. in 1726 Benj. De Voe, of Westchester, and Sarah, who m. Tennis De voor, in 1731.
Peter Oblenis also went to Rockland Co. and settled upon a part of the Kakiat patent, at New Hempstead, now Ramapo. By Sarah, dr. of Barent Nagel, he had issue, Hendrick, b. 1731; Sarah, b. Dec. 4, 1733, who m. James Turneur; Januetie, b. July 26, 1735; Barent, b. May 8, 1737; Maria, b. Oct. 5, 1739, who m. Johannes Blauvelt, and John, b. June 26, 1743; all, except Barent, living at the time of Peter's d. in 1764. Hendrick m. in 1757 Antie Lydecker, of Schraalenburgh, was alive during the Revolution, when he had a son wounded in the service of his country. Of this branch, we believe, was Barent or Bernard Oblenis, of N. Y., 1796, 'who m. Gertrude Sanders, and was clerk of police from 1805 to 1819. He had sons Henry, John, and Peter '[1]
JOOST OBLINUS, or his autograph is, Van OBLINUS, being the person named in the patents of Nicolls and Dongan, was born in Holland, 1640, was the son of Joost, who bought out the heirs of Philip Casier, November 8, 1663 and who with his wife, Martina, and a younger son soon after disappear from our records. Probably they returned to Europe, where some of the children seem to have remained. -- Joost, second, succeeded to his father's property aforesaid, and made large additions thereto. He married Maria Sammis, in 1661, and died in 1706. He was buried on the farm of John Van Houten, adjoining the farm of John Oblenis. Joost had issue:
