Biography

Jonathan Ii was the son of Jonathan & Martha (Wright) Olds

He married Hannah Jones, daughter of Samuel & Hannah (Miller) Jones, on 15 Aug 1749 in MA - parents of Hannah, Jonathan III, Justin, Samuel, Enoch, Lurane & Asenath

Lived at Springfield and Ware, Mass. Joined First Church of Springfield, 1750. He served in the French and Indian War.

Olds-592 and Olds-48 appear to represent the same person because: These are clearly the same man although there are minor differences in the records given. I doubt it the II in his name comes from any contemporary record. Although it can be a useful distinction in a personal pedigree, there are too many Jonathan Olds's for this to be of benefit in a public tree.

Also, we can now establish the date of his death as 15 Dec 1779 from his widow's petition for relief after his death in service. See Petition for Relief of Hannah Olds, Legislative Resolution, 2 July 1785, Massachusetts Archives, Boston, Massachusetts. Date is from a certificate in the file.
