The original profile for Dorothy was created by two Gedcoms, one with each spelling of the family name. They were based on ancestry trees which often wrong! Mike Spencer created Olmstead-388 on 2 Nov 2013 and Deborah Dahl created Olmsted-233 on 29 Jun 2014.
Dorothy is of the James Olmsted of Hartford line and all the early generations used the family name without the "a" unlike James' nephew Richard Olmstead of Norwalk. In today's world, approximately 60% of the family are Olmstead and the other 40% are Olmsted.
A merge of Dorothy's two profiles to become one without the "a" in the family name was requested of the two managers but they never acted. Recently another person did accomplish the merge in the opposite direction, though they did not clean up the merged biographies, sources and references (which I did).
Dorothy is the daughter of Capt. Stephen Olmsted and his wife Hannah Fuller of Middlesex County, Connecticut.
Dorothy married Elijah Day and they had three children: Stephen O. Day (1777), Justin Day (1781), and Fanny Day (1783).
Dorothy died in Colchester, New London County, Connecticut on 4 Aug 1846. She is buried in the Bull Hill Cemetery in Colchester. Her grave marker reads: DOROTHY / wife of Elijah Day / died Aug 4, 1846 / Aged 94.[1]
Dorothy also married Samuel Brown, likely after Elijah died in 1798. No other data available about Samuel Brown.
