Anna Maria Oosterwal was born in Velsen, North-Holland, Netherlands, on June 20, 1884, to Jacob Oosterwal and Klaziena 't Mannetje.[1][2][3]

On July 2, 1903, nineteen year old Anna Maria married Johannes Gerardus Brandjes, the twenty-two year old son of Pieter Brandjes and Antje Bosman, in Beverwijk, North-Holland.[4]
