Sarah Esther Orr, youngest of the eleven known children of Thomas Orr and Agnes Smart, was born in Pleasant Ridge, Saint Patrick Parish, Charlotte County, New Brunswick, 19 Sep 1852.[2] New Brunswick was at the time a British Colony, and it remained so until 1867, becoming that year one of Canada's four founding provinces.[3] As for Pleasant Ridge, a tiny, rural community along the New Brunswick's Magaguadavic River,[4] it was part of Saint Patrick Parish until 1856, when Dumbarton Parish was formed from Saint Patrick's northern half.[5]
